Was at a marketing meeting a couple of days ago, discussing how to brand the Ethan Julian fashion line. The five of us gathered to brain storm, freely throwing out ideas on how to better serve and appeal to our client base, the professional hardworking woman. In the course of discussing one of us, a professional woman herself, shared an experience that was very enlightening. Basically it boiled down to this:
YOUR WARDROBE IS INTERACTIVE.
What does that mean? Well her day began with a corporate meeting that involved all her peers. Ever fashion trendy and conscious she decided to wear a pencil skirt and a matching jacket with white buttons. I mean she looked like she got off a GQ magazine on business women. Feeling confident and sharp she went about her business as usual, trying to contribute where needed and basically being a great team player. However she noticed something unusual: her colleagues that she had worked with for three years were responding to her in an unusual matter. They were less willing to...(struggled to define it)... listen to her.
In pondering their reaction, she came to the realization that her clothing reeked of authority and in that setting it just did not fit. If she were amongst her subordinates that would have been a different story but with her peers that "perceived" level of authority was not appreciated. Now her colleagues were not rude and she was not even sure they were consciously aware of their reaction, but nevertheless there it was. From then she understood in a deeper sense the psychology of the wardrobe.
Dressing consciously should be in a professional woman's mind. Your clothes will say the following:
Whatever story you want to tell depends on your work environment and none is better than the other. But just make sure whatever style you choose, you are sending the right and intended message across. It's all part of office politics!
So Ethan Julian has to decide what its professional ladies handbags are going to help you say. We are taking your journey and achievement very seriously.
We hope this blog will keep us in contact with our valuable customers and from it you all will share our journey.
