Ethan Julian has made it a thing of pride to design working bags and laptop bags for women, adding features that make us unique, and using good quality leather at affordable prices that customers can be proud of. A small business we value our professional female customers and try to give the best service possible. Are we for real? The answer is yes.
We might be a small company but we are a hardworking company. Based in Houston Texas, we are a phone call or email away. Basically even though we sell products, we value the hard work and efficiency of the professional working woman, and we strive to complement their success journey with our products.
So purchase with confidence, keep your focus on your professional goals and understand that we know what it takes to follow your dreams and we are proud of your journey.
Went to see a friend yesterday and our conversation went into the topic of women and business, and how the way we are positioned in life and culture might be influencing the way we approach business and even life. The scenario was this: she was handling a business issue with a friend and even though she was supposed to charge said friend for the amount of work she was involved in she just couldn't because she felt bad.
We then debated on whether our nurturing natures, our sometimes fractured self image, our need to please others and our deep consciousness of how others might perceive us is why we do not demand for raises at work, immediately say sorry when someone else bumps us in the hallway (they should be the one apologizing), prevents us from speaking up during board meetings, or tone down things when in a competitive environment. We further shifted into the topic of how quickly we lose our voices in relationships or are expected to lower ourselves a bit in our pursuit of our dreams (some cultures more than others).
Our conclusion had solutions. We believe that first we must be conscious of the things we deal with that are self sabotages. We must then honestly address them seeking other female mentors to help us as we go into uncharted or uncomfortable territory of change and boldness, and we must start teaching the younger female generation to think differently, expect more, and go for it.
Many people would love to develop leadership qualities to position themselves favorably in their careers. Many books are written and multiple inspirational videos flood YouTube on this subject. However before you can be a leader to others you must learn to master yourself. Are you in control of your emotions? Are you confident in your abilities? Do you have a healthy self esteem and do you have a direction for your life?
You need to answer in the affirmative to yourself before you can attract people who will willingly give you the respect you need and want to be mentored by you. So take the needed time to get better and the rest will follow.
Have a great next phase in your career or journey to excellence!

It is very easy to be tempted to stay in your comfort zone in your profession, especially if you are making decent money, have huge responsibilities outside work, or have the sort of nature that resist confrontation. But a few questions should play in the forefront of your mind when you start thinking about whether you are simply coasting in a comfort zone or moving forward:
If your answers are all yes, then congratulations, you have arrived and all that is left is retirement. But if your answers are no, then there is work to be done. You have to go back to that dream or goal you have lost, take up new challenges in the work place, and find creative ways to improve on the quality of your work. Note that comfort can be a trap that lures you into a false sense of security, so fight it. If not, your career will stall, you might be the next one laid off and or your business will be lost to the competition.
Branding is a much talked about word in the business world, and indeed something every business owner should think about. Basically it is asking the question, how can I strategically set my business apart in the market place? Or why should someone spend their hard earned money on my product or service versus my competitor? The answer is that unique thing that will register in the buyers mind as a brand.
For example in Ethan Julian we intend to brand ourselves as the company with smart handbags with some unique function that work with the professional woman. We are innovative with your functions, offering great prices and excellent work. That's our brand. Smart products that strive with the career woman.
We got to understand our market through listening to those spending their money on our product, listening to their comments as they approached our product in the trade shows and learning from them. So sometimes it might take a little while to find your brand.
With that said Ethan Julian is in the process of creating a great branding campaign starting from the awesome video and photo shoot we just completed to finally revamping our website to reflect this...coming soon!
Below are sneak images of what we did.
Was at a marketing meeting a couple of days ago, discussing how to brand the Ethan Julian fashion line. The five of us gathered to brain storm, freely throwing out ideas on how to better serve and appeal to our client base, the professional hardworking woman. In the course of discussing one of us, a professional woman herself, shared an experience that was very enlightening. Basically it boiled down to this:
YOUR WARDROBE IS INTERACTIVE.
What does that mean? Well her day began with a corporate meeting that involved all her peers. Ever fashion trendy and conscious she decided to wear a pencil skirt and a matching jacket with white buttons. I mean she looked like she got off a GQ magazine on business women. Feeling confident and sharp she went about her business as usual, trying to contribute where needed and basically being a great team player. However she noticed something unusual: her colleagues that she had worked with for three years were responding to her in an unusual matter. They were less willing to...(struggled to define it)... listen to her.
In pondering their reaction, she came to the realization that her clothing reeked of authority and in that setting it just did not fit. If she were amongst her subordinates that would have been a different story but with her peers that "perceived" level of authority was not appreciated. Now her colleagues were not rude and she was not even sure they were consciously aware of their reaction, but nevertheless there it was. From then she understood in a deeper sense the psychology of the wardrobe.
Dressing consciously should be in a professional woman's mind. Your clothes will say the following:
Whatever story you want to tell depends on your work environment and none is better than the other. But just make sure whatever style you choose, you are sending the right and intended message across. It's all part of office politics!
So Ethan Julian has to decide what its professional ladies handbags are going to help you say. We are taking your journey and achievement very seriously.
We hope this blog will keep us in contact with our valuable customers and from it you all will share our journey.
